Software Engineer @ Nagios Enterprises

Jan 2023 - Sept 2024 Saint Paul, Minnesota

  • Nagios, an open-source observability platform, needed a long overdue frontend overhaul for their flagship product. I spearheaded the frontend redesign and development.
  • Started our transition from a homegrown PHP framework to Vite + React and TailwindCSS. Authored the initial codebase and was the primary contributor alongside a team of 13.
  • Created the design files in Figma (we don't have a design team), which included the design of multiple dashboards, authentication flows, and over 45 screens. The team used these screens to implement the UI.
  • Independently made the company's first AI-driven feature, an Elasticsearch query model.
  • Deployed LLM calling and Retrieval Augmented Generation workflows, fine tuned on synthetic datasets, created Language Model benchmarks.
  • Worked on all manner of bugs and investigated product issues: gave customer support directly, wrangled inconsistent docs, and advised on developer experience.

Software Engineering Intern @ Nagios Enterprises

Sept 2022 - Jan 2023 Saint Paul, Minnesota

  • Proposed and Implemented undo/redo operations in our dashboard systems, seamlessly going through position/scaling/deletion/insertion history.
  • Prototyped an autocomplete feature for a log monitoring solution.
  • Made a force-directed graph for visualizing network nodes with D3.

Designer @ Bitwise Industries

Nov 2021 - Sep 2022 Fresno, California

  • Worked directly under the Art Director (reports to the CEO).
  • Used Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, and other design tools to iterate on product and marketing.
  • Develop storyboards, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and more to communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Instructed a programming class, teaching HTML/CSS/JavaScript and contributing to the curriculum for 30+ students.
