One way doors

Barack Obama was working on a political campaign in Chicago when his mother's health took a turn for the worst, 4000 miles away in a honolulu hospital. He never made it in person, and so she passed.

He wrote:

"And I thought about my mother and sister alone in that hospital room, and me not there, so busy with my grand pursuits. I knew I could never get that moment back. On top of my sorrow, I felt a great shame."

I read this years ago; and every once in awhile I read it again. It's a reminder that even the busiest, most important man in the world can't take things back. It's a reminder that there are choices I'll be making soon that I can't take back.
